Perhaps best known for his stimulating and often controversial performance works in which the limits of the artist’s own body are tested, Mike Parr is widely regarded as one of Australia’s most important and challenging artists.
Revealing a lesser known aspect of his practice, LATEMOUTH: Works on Paper 1987 – 2003 focuses on Parr’s engagement with print and explores the performative act of mark-making.
Presenting works produced in the context of a 16-year collaboration between Parr and master printmaker John Loane, of Melbourne’s Viridian Press, the exhibition positions the self-portrait as central to Parr’s printmaking.
