John Nixon’s final, lifetime exhibition, Groups + Pairs 2016 – 2020, at Anna Schwartz Gallery was conceived by the artist as a way of collecting numerous recurring approaches in his practice into a singular presentation: “Collectively some of the groups are complex, some are rigorously geometric, and some are simple. But the logic of combining all the groups is to provide a bigger perspective on my practice.”
Published on the occasion of the exhibition this catalogue comprehensively documents Groups + Pairs 2016 – 2020 and includes an essay by Carolyn Barnes, a longstanding interlocutor of the artist.
