Angela de la Cruz

Biography

Born La Coruña, Spain 1965

Lives and works in London

Angela de la Cruz is known for her slashed and crumpled painted canvases and deconstructed furniture that comment on the demise of painting and modernism. The artist creates monochromatic canvases and then manipulates, warps and vandalises them. Through the deformed paintings de la Cruz asserts herself against the weight of art history, leaving the viewer with the residue of her violence.
