The Oth­er Por­trait brings togeth­er work by artists who have an estab­lished rela­tion­ship to the con­cept and tra­di­tions of por­trai­ture. Through exist­ing and new­ly com­mis­sioned works, the exhi­bi­tion pro­vokes a new analy­sis of the self and the oth­er and exam­ines the ways artists draw on their bod­ies, fam­i­lies, com­mu­ni­ties, cul­tures and expe­ri­ences to under­score the para­dox­es of sub­jec­tiv­i­ty. Locat­ed across two spaces – UTS Gallery and SCA Gallery – The Oth­er Por­trait pro­pos­es the self and the insti­tu­tion as sites in con­ver­sa­tion.
