Shaun Glad­well: Stereo Sequences, fea­tured a suite of new pieces explor­ing dual­i­ty, par­al­lels and mir­ror­ing – a series of ​‘open exper­i­ments’ com­bin­ing and expand­ing on the themes of Glad­well’s career.

Using filmic devices such as long pans and slow-motion, Glad­well cap­tures tight­ly chore­o­graphed, repet­i­tive per­for­mances by clas­si­cal bal­leri­nas, heli­copters, motor­cy­cles, mus­cle cars, tri­als bike-rid­ers and skate­board­ers. The works radi­ate a dis­tinct Aus­tralian sen­si­bil­i­ty, inspired by the unique land­scape and local film cul­ture, includ­ing Ozploita­tion era films.

Shaun Glad­well: Stereo Sequences was the first in a series of major com­mis­sions by Aus­tralian and inter­na­tion­al artists at ACMI.
