Shaun Gladwell
SCAPE Public Art Biennial 7

27th September – 9th November 2013
Christchurch, New Zealand

As an accomplished artist and skateboarder, Shaun Gladwell’s practice has long been interested in public art as an aspect of the urban environment that can be appropriated by skateboarders. Gladwell’s series of steel sculptural works look to the innovative ways skating operates in a broken’ environment.

The works were commissioned for the SCAPE Public Art Biennial 7 in 2013, which was postponed due to the devastating earthquake, that created huge fissures in the city urban landscape.
