Shanghai Library East by Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects has opened, one of the largest libraries in the world and a centre for art, culture and technology driven learning.

Emily Floyd was commissioned to create artworks for the project’s dedicated children’s library.

Referencing motifs from traditional Manhua literature, Floyd’s Butterfly Kites and Knowledge Power, weave through the spaces of the library, central courtyard and outdoor play spaces.

The project was curated by UAP (Urban Art Projects)
