Shaun Gladwell completed undergraduate studies at Sydney College of Arts in 1996 and a Masters of Fine Art at University of New South Wales, Sydney in 2001. The artist is part of ‘Bad Faith’, an international group of artists that merge art, film and digital experimentation.

Shaun Gladwell melds subcultures with fine art incorporating skateboarding, graffiti and breakdancing into this videos and photographs. His practice investigates the figure in motion set against vast landscapes and iconic urban environments. Gladwell immerses viewers into uncharted territories, such a voyage in space in Orbital Vanitas (2017), a breakthrough Virtual Reality work.

Public collections include: National Gallery of Australia (Canberra), MoMA / The Museum of Modern Art (New York), Museum of Contemporary Art (Tokyo), Art Gallery of New South Wales (Sydney), Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (Sydney), Art Gallery of South Australia (Adelaide), National Gallery of Victoria (Melbourne), Wadsworth Atheneum (Hartford, CT). Gladwell’s works can also be found in corporate and private collections in Australia, Asia, the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States.
